About Me

Who am I?
Sally Poyton
What do I do?

I write, mostly YA Fantasy. Up until 2011 it was a secret pursuit, but now I’ve come out of the writing closest. I’m Dyslexic, so writing is not without its difficulties but I LOVE it.

Until recently I was on the Conference Committee for The SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) Winchester Conference, where I organised the Scholarship and Illustrator reviews.

I'm an author on Space on the Bookshelf, a blog that celebrates children's literature with reviews, views and more, press here to check it out.

I'm totally thrilled to have recently started working at The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in a Front of House position!

Writing, so how’s that going?

Well I’m still madly writing and editing, to answer the dredged question; NO I’m not published YET!  However I’ve had a couple of bits of confidence boosting news as I’ve been…

Short-Listed and Honorary Mentioned in Undiscovered Voices Anthology 2012 With my MG Fantasy/ Fairy Tale Novel; Through Mortal Eye’s

Highly Commended in the Writing for Children age 13+ competition at the Winchester Writers Conference 2012 with the opening of my YA Sci-Fi Novel; Journey to the Bone Factory

...Long-listed for the Chicken House / The Times Children's Fiction Competition 2014, with;'Journey to the Bone Factory

So I’m slogging on, writing, editing, re-writing, more editing and so forth, plus the odd bit of blogging and facebooking!
